Verweven : Sensual appearance, soft and seductive femininity: Barend Houtsmuller was struck by the monumental beauty of the robes of the textile artist Lia Luijendijk. Two years after this introduction the exhibition 'Verweven (Weaving) was a fact.
The pictures of Houtsmuller and textile creations of Lia Luuijendijk are closely matched and have a visible relationship.
Barend Houtsmuller (1953) specializes Fine Art Photography. He studied with masters such as Nathan Lions (USA), Duane Michals (USA) and Christian Vogt (CH).
Photography is one of his main arteries. Both, the medium photography and the beauty of women fascinate him. It is an ultimate form of art experience. Through photography, he reaches people on a deeper level than with words. "When me and my model are at work, something special happens. It is like a love story: we create images together that we never could make without each other”

Henschotermeer : Henschotermeer a recreational lake in the center of the Netherlands. It is located in the estate Henschoten, nearby Utrecht. The lake was created during the mobilization for World War II, when it was to strengthen the wood and sand Grebbelinie needed.
At the center of the lake is an island, where these pictures are taken in the early morning at sunrise. Our model Dide was gorgeous en lovely to work with.

The Other Side of the Light : Barend Houtsmullers book 'The Other Side of the Light' has been published in Europe and the USA.
These images are created in the period 1978-1984. Most of them are Infrared pictures. The title refers to the invisible spectrum of IR. Many of these pictures have been acquired by musea and private collectors via galleries.
The famous Dutch writer Thomas Verbogt (Nijmegen, 1952) has written a short novel as a preface in the book.
